Being a relatively new business we had to think of a way to attract versatile and skilled staff on a budget, making sure we could offer our clients the very best solutions and service.
Hiring employees on a part-time basis has allowed us to have highly experienced and skilled staff while saving money, as we don’t pay full-time salaries. In some cases we have employed mothers and people with other commitments, making it a win-win situation for both Sakura and its employees.
Our experience has confirmed that people are often more efficient with getting work done when they know they are only working a few days a week. We have adopted a ‘freedom and responsibility’ working culture. This means we trust our staff to do the work they are hired to do when it fits in with their schedule. They are happy with this, take more responsibility and are proactive and dedicated. Most of them work on fixed days with the option of rescheduling with a week’s notice.
Allowing staff to work from home saves on travel time and saves money for both the business and employees. The use of Dropbox cloud storage ensures that everyone is up to speed at all times and it creates an online team spirit and sense of collaboration when people are not in the office, as everyone stays updated on what’s going on and what everyone else is working on.
