As a service provider we normally design results-driven end-to-end user experiences for our clients, but in the last year we’ve turned the magnifying glass onto ourselves.
After mapping the journeys of our projects and analysing our value chain, we started looking at ways to improve our workflow. By applying the same rapid prototyping ideas and assumption testing we use for our clients, we identified ideas representing the most value for money. This process resulted in drastic improvements to strategy, design, development and quality assurance.
Improvements included: A completely revamped internal process for projects and the development of a new product serving as the basis for every project. This unified code base has significantly reduced the cost of ongoing maintenance and also allows us to reuse newly-developed features between projects. We’ve also completely overhauled our quality control system.
The impact of this new thinking is improved production rate and quality, yet an overall reduction of resources required. Traditionally such benefits are limited to the production side of the business, but by simplifying and optimising the full project life-cycle, we now also find it easier to include the client into the process.
Smarter working was something we previously considered a service for sale, this year we’re rediscovering our potential by working smarter ourselves.
