As accountants, it is essential that we provide an efficient service to our clients, by creating streamlined processes internally, and in our interactions.
Since late 2012 I have reviewed every aspect of my business to see where efficiencies can be created. I am happy to report that 80% of our business processes are now managed online, and that these are all integrated, creating huge time and cost savings, and creating a more dynamic service for our clients. Some of the processes that we now manage online include:
•Client proposals and terms of engagement
•Automated requests and reminders for records and information
•Practice management software, including time, fees and job management
•Xero Online accounting software
•Receipt bank data capture software (eg data captured from receipts and published into our online accounting software)
•Spotlight budget and cashflow reporting
•GoCardless and Directli payment and direct debit processing
•Customer satisfaction surveys
•EventBrite event management
•GoogleApps and Google Drive
•Chaser - credit control management
•Vend - online point of sale systems
These processes have resulted in a 41% increase in turnover in the last financial year, with a 61% increase in profits, all with only two part-time staff.
These improvements have given us the capacity to continue to significantly grow our business, but most importantly our clients have benefited, as we have much more interaction with them, and can spend more of our time on their business affairs.
