Smarter Working 2014: CUB

Name: CUB
Based: Cambridgeshire
Website: www.c-u-b.com

At CUB we regularly evaluate our processes to ensure the business is constantly improving. Every quarter at our change process meeting we evaluate and concentrate on one area of the business. All employees are asked if they would like to attend these meetings and those that can’t attend can always email their ideas. This way we ensure that all views are represented and those who attend the meeting feel they have something to contribute.

At the meeting we consider the area from three viewpoints: What works well? What do we need to consider? What causes us/customers challenges? Each section is discussed by a different group who list everything relevant to that viewpoint. The lists are then passed to another group who look at ways we can do things even better or find solutions to challenges.

The results are then discussed as a team and action points assigned to the members of staff responsible for that area of the business. We ask for ‘outside the box’ as well as realistic ideas as this brings to light different ways we could grow and unusual solutions.

Jaqui Fairfax is chairman of CUB
