A small business can sometimes get caught up in the cycle of short-term thinking, focusing efforts on tasks that bring in the most immediate value.
Although this is a strength of being a smaller company, as cashflow is extremely important, it may not always be the most efficient approach.
Over the last year, Approved Index has worked on improving efficiency by putting an emphasis on long term strategies. Although these can be time consuming in the beginning, the pay-off can be huge, driving long-term growth and success.
There have been a few specific projects we have taken on over the last year, and the results have been staggering. One example is a large scale project we launched to help us better understand our clients, their targets and their needs.
The results from the project allowed us to focus our offering and trim anything unnecessary. Having a better honed service meant that we’ve become really good at what’s most important to our clients and increased efficiency in delivering our service.
Another example would be developing a process that’s helped us to capitalise on opportunities within our call centre. By empowering staff and providing them with better training and tools, we have increased our speed of delivery and leveraged opportunities to raise volume and revenue.
We have been able to track and measure the results from these long term strategic approaches and have seen our revenue triple since implementation.
