Smart trick for defrosting your windscreen and keeping your hands warm at the same time goes viral

A motorist's smart windscreen de-icing trick has gone viral after he shared it on Facebook.

More than two million people have watched Daniel Harris quickly defrost his windscreen using just a sandwich bag and tap water.

Daniel's tip was well-received by Brits struggling with the sub-zero temperatures.

He posted: "Hot water in a food bag and bam, you've got a de-icer and a hand warmer. Works a treat and it's fast."

While pouring boiling water on to a wind shield runs the risk of it cracking, and scrapers can scratch the glass, Daniel suggested just using water from the tap in a sandwich bag.

He said: "I used warm tap water so I could safely hold [the bag] and lower the risk of cracking my screen! The de-icer cans are so cold in the morning and this way keeps you nice and toasty".

Daniel's post has been shared 24,000 times, with thousands tagging friends and family in the comments to spread the news.

The Met Office has issued winter weather warnings across the UK, with some areas in the southwest and South Wales receiving an amber warning - a 'risk to life' alert.

It's illegal to drive with your vision distorted, so finding an effective way to keep your windscreen clear of ice is imperative.
