HUBBALLI: Urban development minister Byrati Basavaraj has said that he has ordered all RCs to work on finalising the date for the mayoral elections.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he said the government is firm on holding mayoral elections soon, for which the process has already started. "Union minister Pralhad Joshi has also spoken to officials in this regard,” he said.
Basavaraj and Joshi launched Smart Market at Bengeri developed by Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City Ltd and a Mobile Library.
While addressing the gathering, Basavaraj said Hubballi-Dharwad will soon be lit with LED lights, for which tender process has already been initiated.
Joshi, former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, MLA Arvind Bellad and others lauded the officials for their work.
Dharwad deputy commissioner Nitish Patil, HDSCL MD CW Shakerl Ahmed, HDMC commissioner B Gopalkrishna, former mayor Veeranna Savadi, corporators Santosh Chavan, Beerappa Khandekar and others were present at the programme.
