Two events on alternative agriculture are taking place this weekend in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
The first one, the "Mahakam Kaset Insi Withi Thai Fair" (or Thai-style organic farming fair) will take over Zone C of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. A collaboration of 18 provinces in the Central Region, the events will feature a variety of organic produce, from rice grains to fruits and vegetables.
Aside from the opportunity to shop, there will also be an exhibition, talks and a consulting service by successful farmers, academics and representatives of related government agencies to provide fair-goers with a better knowledge of eco- and consumer-friendly agricultural concepts and practices.

Information on agricultural tourism will also be available, giving visitors the opportunity to find out where they should go if they wish to gain first-hand experience. Stage performances and a market featuring ready-to-eat savoury dishes and desserts made with organic products will add to the amenities at the three-day fair, which begins on Friday, and goes from 10am to 8pm daily.

Meanwhile in the North, the YSF Organic Culture Fair, will take place at CentralFestival Chiang Mai on Saturday and Sunday. ("YSF" stands for Young Smart Farmer, a network of tech and business-savvy farming entrepreneurs.)
Like at the unrelated Bangkok event, a myriad of organic farming products will be available for sale. Exhibitions, workshops and discussions on various topics will let participants learn more about the different aspects of organic farming as well as the YSF network itself, which is made up of various member groups throughout the Kingdom. More than that, there will also be a blood test service for fair-goers to check toxin levels in their bodies, free of charge.
