Drivers in Canada were stunned after a light aircraft narrowly missed traffic before crashing into a grass verge.

Dramatic dash cam footage shared online shows the small plane flying just metres away from cars before it crashed on Tuesday.

The plane is seen brushing the main road before landing near to Buttonville Airport in Toronto, Canada.

Miraculously, the plane’s passengers (a man and a woman) walked away with just minor injuries, despite photos showing the Cirrus SR20 looking crumpled.

Sandra Saponara, who passed the crash shortly after it happened, said: “It is quite amazing that no one got hurt and that the pilots are ok.”

Canada’s Transport Safety Board tweeted about the incident, adding that it was due to the plane overrunning the runway.

CBC News reported that one passenger was a flying instructor, while the other was a newly licensed pilot.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
