Small and exotic pets at Tayside SSPCA centre looking for Perthshire homes

Perth and Kinross residents could step in to care for small and exotic pets in need.

The Scottish SPCA has made a plea urgently seeking homes for the number of animals in its care in Tayside.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity is reaching capacity in its Angus, Fife and Tayside centre so the team is keen to find loving homes for a number of animals.

There is a pair of rabbits, two single rabbits, two snakes, one leopard gecko and two fish named Elvis and Presley.

Centre assistant manager Dale Christie said: “Coconut is our adorable leopard gecko.

“She has had some issues shedding so will need experienced owners.

“Our corn snakes Bean and Grace will need to be rehomed separately.

“It can be very hard to find homes for snakes but they do make a fascinating pet.

“Once their requirements are catered for, they can be less maintenance than a furry pet.

“Both snakes will need owners who understand their specialist needs.

“Tails and Floki are our solo rabbits who need individual homes.

“Tails is eight months old and Floki is only three months.

“Tails is well handled but still a bit timid and Floki doesn’t seem to have had much human interaction.

“New owners will need to have patience while the rabbits become used to them and are able to come out of their shell at their own pace.

“Tails could potentially live with children aged 10 years and over and Floki would rather live with adults.

“Our bun pair is Salt and Pepper.

“They are both three years old and female and will need an outside enclosure with plenty of space and enrichment to keep them happy and healthy. They would prefer to live in an adult-only home.

“Elvis is an Oscar fish and Presley is a catfish.

“They can live for a very long time so they are quite a commitment.

“A new owner will need to have knowledge of their care.

“Anyone interested in any of these pets can apply online or find out more about any of our small and exotic animals on our website.”
