Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has retold the story of the infamous golf club incident between Craig Bellamy and John Arne Riise.
In 2007, before a Champions League tie with Barcelona, the Liverpool squad were on a trip in Portugal that ended with Bellamy attacking teammate Riise with a golf club.
While it was agreed with manager Rafa Benitez that the matter would remain 'in house', Bellamy celebrated his goal against Barcelona a few days later by swinging an imaginary golf club, which drew a great deal of attention to the story.
The pair have opened up on the bizarre incident since and Pennant is the latest from that squad to share his account of what happened that night.

“It wasn’t a fight, he just got smacked with a seven iron," Pennant told The Open Goal podcast.
"Bellamy was sharing [a hotel room] with Steve Finnan, Steve said: 'I was in bed and I’ve just seen Craig Bellamy stand up and go in his golf bag and get a seven iron.
"He was thinking: ‘What’s going on here? It’s two in the morning!’
“Bellamy has just barged through [the hotel room door] and Riise is asleep but he goes up to his bed and starts saying: ‘What are you saying now John? Do you wanna do karaoke now do you?!"
Riise has previously detailed his side of the story in his autobiography, with an extract shared in The Guardian, and claimed Bellamy 'could have ended' his career.
He wrote: “I woke in the dark to hear someone opening the door. Obviously, I thought it was Agger.
"But something made me realise that it wasn’t Agger. And soon I could see him – Craig Bellamy at the foot of my bed with a golf club in his hands.
"Bellamy raised the club over his head and swung as hard as he could. He tried to hit my shins, which would have ended my career, but I managed to pull my leg away in time."
