Slovenia's Eurovision Song Contest host fools audience during performance in shock stunt

The Slovenia Eurovision Song Contest auditions saw the show's host fool the audience into believing his on-stage gaffe was a real one, after he became covered in blood when props came crashing down as he played the piano.

During the unexpected stunt, Slovenian comedian Klemen Slakonja was performing a melody when a light fixture above him collapsed on the piano, forcing him to dramatically fall off his seat.

For a brief moment, the music stopped and the audience was in shock after his plunge, but Klemen got up in a matter of seconds and continued his performance.

Viewers became concerned for the host, before finding out it was a joke (Twitter)

After huge gasps from the audience faded away, people spotted "blood" instantly dripping from the side of his face - despite his face not actually coming into contact with anything during the fall.

The audience then started to catch onto the joke, especially when Klemen continued singing.

Viewers rushed to Twitter to discuss the stunt, with some thinking it was a real accident that happened on stage.

One person wrote: "Wtf just happened at #ema2020... the guy who was opening the show with a cover of "arcade" stumbled and started bleeding from his head and they had to stop the performance i-"

But another Twitter user replied to the tweet, writing: "It was planned... He's a comedian."

Another praised the stunt, commenting: "THIS. WAS. THE. MOST. ICONIC. INTERVAL. ACT. EVER."

This week, Poland, Slovenia and Ukraine vote for their acts that will have the best chance of taking them into the final of the Eurovision Song Content that takes place in the Netherlands in May.

Tonight's final auditions for Slovenia saw 12 acts compete as Klemen hosted the drama-filled sing-off.
