'Sloppiness' - Nottingham Forest player ratings after shock defeat to Charlton

A below-par Nottingham Forest fell to their first home defeat since December as they were beaten 1-0 by struggling Charlton Athletic on a disappointing evening on the banks of the Trent.

Lyle Taylor’s first half goal proved the difference between the two sides as Sabri Lamouchi’s men failed to replicate their impressive performance from the weekend.

Here’s how Reds reporter Sarah Clapson rated the Forest players at the City Ground...

Brice Samba: Will be as disappointed as anyone with the goal conceded. Made a couple of saves but not too much to do apart from that. Rating: 5/10

Carl Jenkinson: Looked a little rusty - understandable, given he’d not played for a month and not started a game since the FA Cup defeat at Chelsea. Not the outing he would have hoped for. Rating: 5/10

Tobias Figueiredo: Made some important blocks, but the back line as a whole looked disjointed among a team which was out of sorts on a frustrating evening. Rating: 6/10

Joe Worrall: Did his best to gee his teammates up as they tried to get something out of the game. Didn’t do too much wrong, but still one to forget all round. Rating: 6/10

Gaetan Bong: A difficult debut for the January signing, especially as he’s seen hardly any football all season. Struggled to settle and didn’t look particularly comfortable throughout. Rating: 4/10

Ben Watson: Not at his best against the Addicks, but he certainly wasn’t the only one. Normally does the simple things so well, but suffered from a dip in standards. Rating: 5/10

Ryan Yates: Wasn’t afraid of getting stuck in and couldn’t fault the midfielder’s effort. The Reds just never really got to grips with the game as a whole. Rating: 5/10

Joe Lolley: Looked the most likely to create something for his team. Caused problems for Charlton in the first half, then fell victim to Forest’s sloppiness at times in the second. Rating: 6/10

Tiago Silva: Had a couple of efforts at goal in the first half, but didn’t really cause Dillon Phillips any problems in goal. Couldn’t get his set-piece radar right on a tough night and that spark wasn’t there. Rating: 5/10

Adama Diakhaby: Certainly showed his pace on his first start in the Garibaldi, but wasn’t able to make the most of it. Needed more composure at times. Rating: 5/10

Tyler Walker: Went as close as anyone to finding the back of the net for the Reds. Grazed the post in the first half and drew a save from the goalkeeper in the second. Suffered from a lack of service. Rating: 6/10

Subs

Matty Cash (for Bong, 59): Added a bit of threat down the right, which had been sorely lacking. Not enough to make the difference, though. Rating: 6/10

Alfa Semedo (for Silva, 59): Never quite settled into the game on a poor night for those in red. Rating: 5/10

Nuno da Costa (for Yates, 69): Not really able to make much of an impression on his Forest debut - a tough one to come into, in fairness. Rating: 5/10

Subs not used: Muric, Carvalho, Dawson, Mighten.
