Slippery slope: Japanese alpine snow route takes shape

A mountain road begins to take shape on Monday as snow removal progresses ahead of the spring tourist season on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, a popular attraction for its tall banks of snow. The route, which is scheduled to open on April 15, runs through the Tateyama mountain range in the Northern Alps, straddling Toyama and Nagano prefectures.
