'Slim hopes' - Former Nottingham Forest star turned pundit offers prediction

A former Nottingham Forest star turned TV pundit is backing his old club to get a the win they need to keep them firmly in the play-off places this weekend.

But there’s a sting in the tail of David Prutton’s big match prediction ahead of Sunday’s clash between the Reds and relegation battlers Huddersfield Town, in which he says Forest will run out 2-0 winners.

Sabri Lamouchi’s men are looking to register their first three points of the re-start against Danny Cowley’s strugglers who lost their opener 2-0 at home to Wigan Athletic.

And while Prutton is confident in Forest getting the result they want, he believes the fifth placed side’s failure to take the full three points at Sheffield Wednesday has put an end to any designs of a top two finish.

The Sky Sports’ EFL pundit, who started his career at the City Ground, making 155 league appearances over two spells and scoring nine goals, said: “That late goal they conceded at Sheffield Wednesday probably put an end to Nottingham Forest’s slim hopes of automatic promotion this season. They now need to focus on making sure they hold on to a play-off spot.

“Huddersfield were really poor against Wigan last week and it is a result which has left them right back in the relegation mix. Forest don’t always do well at home against teams who sit in, but they should have enough to win this one.”
