Sligo Rovers welcome Kyle Callan-McFadden back into the fold for Derry City clash

Kyle Callan-McFadden returns from a hand injury ahead of Sligo Rovers’ clash with Derry City  tonight but Johnny Dunleavy is a doubt with a hamstring problem.

The Bit O’Red are building a head of steam following their win over Shamrock Rovers and dramatic point after a 3-3 thriller away to Waterford a week ago.

Manager Liam Buckley is still rueing the concession of a late equaliser to the Blues at the RSC but believes his team is finally going in the right direction.

Rovers have lost just once in eight games and Buckley said: “It was possibly an opportunity lost in Waterford, but it wasn’t to be after an eventful second half.

“I was impressed with the lads and they dug in. Waterford were good as well so the draw was a fair result.

“We’ve got a few performances now but we’re not finished. We want to grow this project together. I want the players to feel for the fans and the fans to feel for the players.

“We’re doing our best to get this better. By the end of this season I want everyone to be contented partners and tonight is a chance to take a step towards that.”

Of the challenge posed by Derry tonight, Buckley - who has John Mahon back from suspension - added: “Derry are up there on merit.

“We’ve improved since the defeat up there. I’ve said it about so many teams, that there’s not a lot being between them, and it’s the case here.

“Derry are six points ahead of us and by 10pm tonight I’d like it to be down to three points.”

The Candystripes are without Patrick McClean who has a thigh injury, while long-term absentee Michael McCrudden remais out.

“Patrick could potentially be out for a week or two. He has had a bit of a problem with that for most of the season and he’s a big loss to us,” said boss Declan Devine.
