Sligo Rovers want to show Derry City what they're all about says Liam Buckley

Liam Buckley wants Sligo to show north-west derby rivals Derry what they're all about at the Brandywell tonight.

Secure enough in sixth place, the Bit O'Red want to get closer to St Pat's and Derry ahead of them in the table but haven't scored in two encounters with the Candsytripes this season - a scoreless draw and 2-0 defeat.

“The league table doesn’t lie in that Derry are a couple of wins ahead of us, but we feel we can compete against any side," he said.

"We’ve beaten the top three in the league yet had some disappointing results and Derry couldn’t get that goal last week (against UCD), so it proves how hard this league is.

“We’d like to go up there and show a bit more of what we can do and get the result.”

Sligo were themselves frustrated in their last outing, with a scoreless draw with Waterford.

“We expected a bit more last Saturday," said Buckley. "We’re proving very hard to beat but we could have done a good bit better in the game.

“We would have liked to play better in the second half.

"We got the point so we’re still in there and with 11 games to go we’d like to see where a good run could take us".
