Dante Leverock returns to the Sligo Rovers squad tonight fresh from securing Concacaf Gold Cup qualification with Bermuda.
Bermuda reached the finals for the first time after winning 3-1 away to Dominican Republic on Sunday with Leverock captaining the side.
The finals are co-hosted by the United States and Costa Rica from June 15 to July 7, so Leverock could miss league games if Bermuda progress.
But the League of Ireland mid-season break between June 15 to June 27 should take the sting out of any absence.
After Sunday’s win, Leverock said: “It’s an amazing feeling. It doesn’t feel real. I’m so proud of the players and staff. It’s a massive achievement."
Talks have stalled between Irish clubs and FAI over proposed new league structures
And Leverock is not the only Sligo Rovers player with international ambitions this season.
In a recent Mirror Sport interview, winger Kris Twardek revealed he could be in Olympic qualifying action with Canada later in the year.
Tonight, Rovers travel to Derry and boss Liam Buckley said: “There isn’t much between us in the table and that big, slick pitch will lend to a good game.”
