Sligo Rovers 2 Shelbourne 1: Jesse Devers and David Cawley sink Shels

Sligo Rovers had no wins before the Covid-19 lockdown kicked in but now they have two from two games since the restart.

Having beaten Derry City 2-0 at the Brandywell in their first game back, the Bit O’Red were fast out of the blocks.

Barely 30 seconds had gone when Ryan de Vries’ cross was nodded home by Jesse Devers. And David Cawley ensured his side would be climbing out of the relegation zone when he doubled the lead in the 51st minute with a crisp shot.

Shelbourne did make a fight of it but had to settle for a consolation goal four minutes into added time.

Midfielder Gary Deegan’s fierce shot was too hot to handle but it was also too little too late.
