'Slightly awkward': Sacha Lord mistakenly nominated for women's business awards

A lot of us have had that sinking feeling when we've assumed someone's gender over e-mail because they have a name like 'Alex' or 'Jamie'.

Mr Lord, who helped found the Parklife festival, revealed on Twitter that he had been mistakenly nominated for Influential Business Woman Awards 2023.

The "slightly awkward" nomination was met with humour on social media, with Mr Lord joking that he "knew that name would come in handy one day".

The awards, which are currently in their eighth year, are open to all female business leaders everywhere but it's unlikely Mr Lord will make it through to the final stages.

Nominations are submitted by the public so it's likely someone put forward Mr Lord's name without knowing everything they maybe should about the businessman.

Of course Mr Lord is still eligible for the Manchester Evening News Business Awards 2023. Nominations are open until March 27 ahead of the annual event being staged at The Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in the city centre in May.
