Latest number of Covid-19 deaths recorded across Nottinghamshire

The number of Covid-19 deaths recorded across Nottinghamshire has fallen slightly, weekly data has shown.

Office for National Statistics (ONS) data has shown that the number of people who died from Covid-19-related deaths in the county was 63 in the week ending November 6.

That compares to 67 deaths the week before, and 40 deaths the week before that.

The numbers for the week ending November 6 include 48 deaths in hospitals, a fall from 56 a week before, and 13 deaths in care homes.

The amount of deaths in care homes across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire has increased, however, with this 13 figure a rise from four deaths a week earlier.

The figures are based on the number of deaths registered up to November 14, where Covid-19 is mentioned on the death certificate.

Overall, there have been 1,144 deaths across our area involving Covid-19 between the start of the outbreak and November 6.

Of those deaths, most (700) took place in hospital, with 382 in care homes.

There were also 44 deaths recorded at home, 11 in hospices, four in other communal establishments, and three elsewhere.

Other communal establishments include prisons, halls of residence, hotels, and sheltered accommodation, while elsewhere covers deaths outside and people declared dead on arrival at hospital.

Separate figures from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), show 14 deaths involving coronavirus in care homes in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire in the week ending November 13.

That was up from six the week before.

Separate data from Public Health England also suggests that 3,421 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire in the week ending November 15.

This would suggest a week-on-week decline across the county, with the 3,421 positive test comparing to 4,902 the week before, and 5,313 in the week before that.

The figures are calculated from infection rates in the local area based on Pillar 1 (hospital and care settings and Pillar 2 (drive-through test centres and swabs sent by post) testing.

Numbers for the most recent week may be an underestimate as it can take several days of the most recent tests to be reflected in the figures.

NHS England data has also revealed that there were 411 beds occupied by patients with a positive Covid-19 test at hospital trusts in the county on November 10.

This compares to 456 beds the week before, and 361 beds the week before that.

However, just 32 of these beds are mechanically ventilated.
