Sleigh Drive closed as emergency services deal with flat fire in Restalrig area

Sleigh Drive in Edinburgh has been closed off while fire crews deal with a blaze at a flat in the Restalrig area.

Emergency services were called to the scene this morning following reports of a fire at a top-floor flat in the area. The road is currently off-limits between the roundabouts at Lochend Road and Restalrig Road South with traffic being diverted away from the area.

The Council-run Edinburgh Travel News social media account is urging people to approach the area with caution.

An eyewitness has told Edinburgh Live that as of around 9am there was a police presence at the Restalrig Road South end of the street to ensure nobody passes through, while fire crews and an ambulance could be seen outside a property.

Police say they have been in attendance in the area to assist with traffic management.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
