Sleaford Mods announce Nottingham show in 2021 as part of UK tour

Sleaford Mods have announced they will perform a Nottingham show in 2021 as part of a UK tour.

The band formed in the city have announced the tour alongside their new album 'Spare Ribs' - inspired by the pandemic - which will be released on January 15.

The duo of Jason Williamson and Andrew Fearn plan to perform in their hometown on Saturday, November 27.

Tour tickets are due to go on sale at 10am on Friday, January 15 , with prices starting from £29.75 for the Motorpoint Arena show.

Frontman of the band, Jason, has announced the band's sixth album will feature other artists, draw on the duo's sense of humour, and take a critical approach of the Government's handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

The new album even features a song called 'Shortcummings', written five months before former political adviser Dominic Cummings took his infamous trip to Barnard Castle.

"I could see some things developing. I got quite interested in what he was about,” said Jason, adding that the song deals with “the disorientation being caused by his ideologies”.

Four of the album's songs were written and recorded at JT Soar Studio's in Nottingham and t he album’s title, according to Jason, emerged from “the idea of the amount of people that died from the first wave of coronavirus.

"Human lives are always expendable to the elites… We’re in a constant state of being spare ribs.”

The album is said to continue the "poppier" approach the band began to explore with the ‘Eton Alive’ album with Andrew continuing to handle production work.

Jason added: “Andrew has very intelligent levels of inspiration that are not necessarily connected to other artists. He is a producer’s producer.”
