Slavia president stokes Rangers row as he shares Ondrej Kudela defence with disturbing 'lynching' reference

Slavia Prague president Jaroslav Tvrdik has shared a disturbing article defending Ondrej Kudela.

The Czech club chief reposted an opinion piece claiming the defender had been "lynched" after being punished by UEFA for racially abusing Rangers star Glen Kamara.

Kudela has been banned for 10 matches following the incident during March's Europa League last 16 second-leg at Ibrox.

Kamara accused the 34-year-old of calling him "a f*****g monkey" and he was found guilty by European football's governing body on Thursday.

Slavia issued a statement which appeared eager to calm tensions, apologising for causing the Finland international "distress".

But it appears Tvrdik is still backing Kudela as he reposted an article from Czech outlet Seznam Zpravy on his Twitter page.

Written by deputy editor-in-chief Jiri Hozek, the piece brands the decision to ban Kudela as "extremely stupid" and perpetrated by a "UEFA mafia".

Most concerningly, however, was the claim Kudela had fallen to victim to a "modern lynching" on social media.

The act of lynching - essentially an extrajudicial execution - became synonymous with racial violence against black citizens throughout history in the USA.

In addition to the 10-match suspension for Kudela, Kamara also received a three-match ban for for retaliating to the abuse after the match.

Rangers forward Kemar Roofe was also served a four-match "assault" punishment for a challenge on keeper Ondrej Kolar which left him with a fractured skull.
