Slavia Prague chief in crass complaint over cost of Ondrej Kudela lawyer fees amid racism scandal

Slavia Prague have spent £500,000 on lawyer fees defending Ondrej Kudela after he was found guilty of racially abusing Glen Kamara.

That's according to club president Jaroslav Tvrdik who says he expects an end to the case in the next two weeks.

Slavia are still waiting to hear if Kudela will have to go to court in Scotland after their Europa League clash with Rangers was overshadowed by the incident, which saw the defender slapped with a ten-match ban from UEFA.

Additionally, a case of 'racially aggravated conduct' against the defender was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal after the veteran Czech was accused of shouting a discriminatory slur into Kamara's ear during the Last 16 clash at Ibrox.

Last April, the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service stated: "The Procurator Fiscal has received reports concerning a 25-year-old male and a 34-year-old-male and incidents said to have occurred on March 18 2021 in Glasgow.

"The reports remain under the consideration of the Procurator Fiscal."

But they have yet to make a decision on whether the case will go to court and Slavia chief Tvrdik has revealed they have had to employ four different groups of lawyers including two in Scotland to fight the case.

And he's admitted he wants an end to the case once and for all.

He said: "Lawyers have already cost this club almost £500,000 and we have still no answer.

"We want to end this story as soon as possible and stop having to pay lawyers. I am told we may have a decision within 14 days."

However, the case will drag on for another few months because another set of the player's lawyers insisted the CAS appeal against his UEFA ban be delayed until April because they have demanded to cross-examine Kamara in person.
