Slaven Bilic wants the Scotland job as former Croatia boss throws hat into the ring

Slaven Bilic has revealed he is interested in becoming Scotland boss.

The former West Ham and Croatia manager has been without a job since February when he was sacked by Saudi side Al-Ittihad.

And although he will not formally apply to succeed Alex McLeish , the 50-year-old is up for the national team role, reports the Daily Mail.

A source close to the man who led Croatia to the Euro 2008 quarter-finals said: "Of course he is missing football and in interested in the Scotland job.

"He won’t apply for the job but if the SFA contact him, that is different."

Clarke has hinted he’d like the job (SNS Group)

Bilic is 25-1 to fill the Hampden hotseat. Scot Gemmil is odds-on favourite at 5-6, with Steve Clarke 2-1.

The Kilmarnock boss on Friday dropped a hint he would like to become Scotland boss.

He said: "Whoever is lucky enough to get the job, it should be an honour for them."
