Slain Glasgow gangster Omar Sadiq poses with killer and getaway driver in chilling photo

A chilling photo has emerged showing murdered gangster Omar Sadiq enjoying a night out with the man suspected of killing him – and the getaway driver.

The picture, taken earlier this year, shows Sadiq and two other men happily enjoying drinks together at a table.

But a fallout among Glasgow gangsters saw him targeted by the same pair in a deadly attack in the Pollok area of the city two weeks ago.

The image shows Sadiq sitting at the left of the photo, while the man sources say stabbed him to death sits on the right.

A third man, pictured in the middle of the shot, is suspected of being the driver of the getaway car that helped his killer flee the scene of the bloody murder.

A underworld source, who gave the photo to the Daily Record, said: “Just shows, you can be sitting with your murderer and not even know it.”

He added: “You really can’t trust anyone.”

Sadiq was found in a pool of blood on Boydstone Road near the city’s Silverburn shopping centre on September 15.

Police later launched a murder investigation after the 32-year-old died in hospital.

Last week, we told how thug pals of Sadiq’s posted an image of the man they are blaming for his death online, alongside a £25,000 bounty offered to anyone who can help hunt him down.

The sinister post, beside a picture of a man, read: “Anyone that knows, knows the money is there. Police ain’t doing something. Let’s get together and do it.”

But Sadiq’s associates are now said to be on the warpath after it was reported yesterday that a notorious housebreaking gang are hiding the killer at a safe house.

Sources told our sister title the Sunday Mail that the criminal gang, who also have links to the illegal drug trade, have picked up the 28-year-old suspect and are protecting him at a secret location.

Sadiq was laid to rest on Friday as hundreds of mourners flocked to Glasgow Central Mosque for the send-off.

Just hours before his funeral took place, a shrine erected by loved ones at the site of his brutal stabbing was torched by vandals.

Pictures from the scene showed charred flowers trampled into the ground.

Sadiq was a well-known figure with links to some of Scotland’s most notorious criminals. He was caged for five years in 2009 for trying to ram a rival off the road while pointing a firearm at the car.

Sadiq is also linked to race hate killers Imran “Baldy” Shahid, his brother Zeeshan Shahid and Faisal Mushtaq, who were all sentenced to life in November 2006 after being found guilty of killing Kriss Donald, 15.

Sadiq was also linked to a knife attack on a witness involved in the case in 2008.

A long-standing gang war for control of the drugs market has been raging for years across the south side.

Police Scotland last night confirmed that inquiries into Sadiq’s death are ongoing.

Meanwhile, more than £12,800 has been raised to build a mosque in Pakistan in memory of Sadiq.

The online fundraiser was set up to create a permanent tribute to the dad of three – with one donor giving £8200 to help break the £10,000 target.
