Slack down: Office messaging chat app not working in the middle of the work day

Slack, the workplace messaging app, has stopped working.

Users are finding themselves unable to send or receive messages – or really see anything at all.

Slack's status page does not show the issue. But it is being widely reported across the internet and has been verified by The Independent.

The chat app is used in workplaces across the world, and claims to have more than eight million users. Many of them rely on the chat app for the most central parts of their business.

The issues appears to be affecting all the different ways of accessing the Slack app – including the web, as well as apps for mobile and desktops.

"We are looking into connectivity issues at this time," the most recent post on Slack's Twitter reads. "We'll keep you posted as soon as we have news on this."

The problems do appear to be clearing, however, with fewer being reported shortly after the issues began.
