Skyscanner shares cheapest and most expensive days to fly

Travel website Skyscanner has revealed the best day to travel to save you money.

January is a popular time of year for booking trips abroad so if you’re thinking of doing just that you might want to take the following into account.

According to Skyscanner, Friday is the cheapest day to fly and Tuesday the most expensive, when travelling from Britain.

The company’s report showed you can save up to 11% on flights by switching departure dates from a Tuesday to a Friday.

And they found the most expensive day to book a flight tends to be a Monday, while the cheapest is a Wednesday.

While Fridays are the cheapest for flying, if you want a quiet departure, you might want to pay a bit more as this was the busiest day of the week to travel in 2019, while perhaps unsurprisingly Sundays are often the quietest.

According to Skyscanner, flights are set to be cheaper this year, with economy prices down 7% year-on-year and the average price of First Class or long haul flights down 5%.

To save more money, Skyscanner suggests mixing and matching airlines by flying out with one and returning with another.
