Fans pining for Big Brother Australia’s heyday can rest assured that there’s been no shortage of drama offscreen, this time courtesy of former contestants Skye Wheatley and Tim Dormer.
It all stems from comments made by Wheatley — who also appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here last year — on her podcast Skye & Callum, which is co-hosted by Callum Hole.
During a recent episode, Wheatley reflected on her time in the Big Brother house during its 11th season in 2014, and claimed she was set to return to Channel 7’s reboot of the show alongside Dormer in 2022 before she was axed by producers.

Wheatley claimed she was dropped from the reboot due to a social media scandal before the show began filming, but she also alleged that Dormer — a fellow Big Brother alum who won in season 10 — might’ve had something to do with her absence from the reboot.
“’After I’m A Celeb, Ben Morris [manager] interviewed me, and he said that apparently Tim Dormer… said, ‘if you put Skye in the house, I’m not doing it.’”
“So they obviously chose him,” Wheatley claimed.
She went on to say that while she had no proof of Dormer being involved in her axing from the Big Brother reboot, she nonetheless felt that the fellow reality star “hated me”.
“I don’t know if there’s truth to that, but [Dormer] hated me. I don’t know if he was jealous but I just knew he did not like me.”
As for the origin of this supposed hate, Wheatley claimed it all kicked off when Dormer shared his coming out post on social media back in 2016.

“’I even brought it up to him one time – I said, ‘What’s your problem with me? I’m sensing some animosity here,'” Wheatley said.
“His reasoning was I tried to take the limelight on his coming out post because I commented and said, ‘Congratulations I’m so proud of you for coming out.’ I was just trying to be nice.”
While Wheatley clarified there was no bad blood on her end, despite the rumours — saying she “still love[s] him” and “doesn’t have any bad feelings” — Dormer himself held far fewer punches when responding to her comments.
“I’m tired of people using my name to try and associate some meaning to their own lives – especially when it comes to anyone in front or behind the camera of the delusional world of reality TV,” Dormer said in a statement to the Daily Mail Australia.
“She’s fake as fuck and that’s what it takes to survive that version of ‘reality,’” he added.
Dormer went on to “wish [Wheatley] well on her recovery journey back to reality”, saying he “hope[s] she can find her authentic voice one day like I have”.
Regardless of Dormer’s alleged involvement, Wheatley said she was ultimately dropped from the Big Brother reboot after making a sex confession on social media.
That hullabaloo kicked off when Wheatley replied to a fan comment on Instagram about who is “more dominant in the bedroom” between herself and former boyfriend Lachlan Waugh.

“If I’m in the mood, I’m not going to take no for an answer,” Wheatley replied, leading critics to claim she made Waugh “have non-consensual sex”.
After that controversy, Wheatley said she “got an email the next day from the producers [of the reboot], and they were like, ‘Hey, sorry. We’ve decided not to put her in the mix’”.
Wheatley eventually apologised for the “insensitive, triggering” confession on Instagram, and the reboot season of Big Brother went ahead with housemates Dormer, Reggie Bird, Tully Smyth, and Layla Subritzky, among others.
Flash-forward a few years and Dormer appeared on Celebrity Apprentice before Wheatley won I’m A Celebrity’s 2024 season, so perhaps there’s room in Australia’s reality TV hellscape for everyone.
Well… almost everyone.
