Skye Stout has last laugh on trolls as teen scores free-kick on Kilmarnock debut

Skye Stout as been doing her talking on the pitch by scoring a free-kick on her Kilmarnock Women debut.

The SWPL 2 side announced the signing of the talented 16-year-old from Celtic this week but unwanted headlines were made when she was targeted by online trolls.

This was due to a skin condition and the club were forced to take their announcement post down after a string of vile abuse was aimed in her direction.

Stout received a heart-warming video message from Ally McCoist and also saw other names from the world of football sticking up for her, including former Celtic striker John Hartson and ex-Glasgow City midfielder Denise O'Sullivan.

Now, she has had the last laugh on the twisted trolls by scoring a beauty on her debut.

Her new Kilmarnock side faced St Johnstone today on the opening day of the SWPL 2 season and ended up comfortable winners, with a 6-2 scoreline.

Stout scored the fourth goal of the game, smashing it in directly from a free-kick from just outside the area.

Footballer Craig Bryson said: "Well done, superb."

In his message, which was shared by Tam Cowan, McCoist said:  “Its strange surroundings so let me explain myself, my flight got cancelled and I’m now on a train to Birmingham to watch Aston Villa.

“This is the trials and tribulations of professional football for you Skye, it’s just a wee warning for you because I’ve just heard you’ve just signed for Kilmarnock which is absolutely fantastic news.

“I played down there for three years and it was three of the best years of my footballing life and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It’s a fantastic club with great people.

“You do well Skye, enjoy your football and hopefully one of these days I’ll get a chance to come and see you play. Good luck.”
