Sky1 staff bid farewell to Woolfe

Richard Woolfe finally got to celebrate his departure from Sky1 today with a boozy leaving lunch for colleagues at the Ealing Park Tavern in west London. As well as a slap-up meal, Woolfe and his team were also treated to a quiz in which the answer to every question included a reference to "Richard". Guests sat down at a table festooned with pictures of Woolfe from different stages of his life underneath a banner that read "Freed! The Osterley1". Woolfe – who was presented with a "free the Osterley1" T-shirt at the Sky1 Christmas party – announced he was leaving to become head of Channel Five in November, and has been patiently waiting for his successor to be named before he could move on. Former BBC3 controller Stuart Murphy was named as the new Sky1 controller last week. Woolfe begins a period of gardening leave on Monday before starting at Five on 20 April. Monkey is looking forward to regular updates on how Woolfe's garden is faring in the meantime.
