Sky customers will be able to watch newly launched streaming service Disney+ after the two companies struck a deal.
Sky users who have a SkyQ box will be able to add Disney+ channels to their Sky packages after the TV provider confirmed a deal has been done with Disney+, reports ChronicleLive.
The new Disney+ streaming service has already been launched in the US and features access to Disney films and TV series. Recent hits include Star Wars spin off The Mandalorian, High School Musical: The Series and The World According to Jeff Goldblum.
The service is set to launch in the UK and it will be available as a standalone streaming package or as an add-on for Sky customers in the UK and Ireland.
Jeremy Darroch, Group Chief Executive, Sky, said: “We’ve built a strong partnership with Disney over three decades and we’re pleased that our customers in the UK and Ireland can continue to enjoy their world-class content – all in one place on Sky Q. This is a great start to what is set to be another stellar year for Sky – in 2020 we’ll launch new channels and genres, start building Sky Studios Elstree and we’ve got brilliant new and returning originals coming too.”
Sky has also confirmed NowTV will also be available on SkyQ in the coming months, which means Sky users who do not have access to sport, entertainment or kids channels can add them on as a bolt-on package.
Sky has also recently announced it will make BT Sport channels available on the service for the first time.
