Sky TV teases major new launch as 'something magical'

Sky TV will launch 'something magical' on Thursday 7 October and it could be a major first for the company.

Sky has not revealed any details of the upcoming launch but rumours suggest it could be a new Sky Q set top box that can give users access to Sky without a satellite dish for the first time.

The Express says: "Sky Q experience could finally be available to those without a satellite dish drilled into their walls or roof. Sky originally announced plans to beam its popular Sky Q service into living rooms without the need for a dish back in 2017."

The current Sky Q box offers 4K HDR picture quality, the ability to record six shows simultaneously while watching a seventh and voice search but it has always only been available to those who have a Sky dish.

The new box, if it does go dish-less, will open up Sky Q for over two million households in the UK and six million across Europe.

Sky will announce the new launch on Thursday 7 October from around 9am.

Sky is also offering a range of deals for those who want Sky Q. They include £26 for an 18-month contract that includes the standard Sky TV and streaming service Netflix in once place. Other deals include Sky TV and Sky Sports for £41 a month, or Sky TV, Netflix and Cinema for £37 per month.

Sky and BT Sports packages start from £65 a month, while Sky TV and Kids is £31 per month. You can see all of the S ky deals here.

Sky is expected to launch a series of Sky Black Friday deals in time for November.
