Sky survey shows Everton and Liverpool fan happiness with Farhad Moshiri and FSG

A survey has given some insight into how happy Everton and Liverpool fans are with their current owners.

Sky Bet, in partnership with YouGov, conducted research in July as part of their Fan Hope Survey, asking fans of Premier League clubs whether or not they were happy for their owners to remain in situ.

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri, who purchased a majority shareholding in the club back in February of 2016, has been seen as willing to spend to help the Blues bridge the gap between themselves and the so-called 'big six', with heavy investment on the playing side and also in the new stadium development that has been given the green light at Bramley Moore Dock.

But that spend has now had to be curbed as Everton skate close to the limit allowed by Financial Fair Play owing to their rising wage bill and smaller revenue streams than those in the the group which they seek to be a part of.

But Toffees fans, according to the survey, are happy with the job Moshiri is doing at present at Goodison Park, with 75.4 per cent of those surveyed giving him the the thumbs up. That places Everton in ninth in the overall table.

For Liverpool the ire directed at Fenway Sports Group has largely been about their perceived lack of transfer spend in comparison to their rivals, with the US owners noted for their preference for a player trading model and reluctance to spend big money on players who have reached their high watermark.

The dreadful miscalculation to enter into the doomed European Super League plot did little to improve their image among Reds fans, although they have been able to bank some credit for Liverpool winning the Champions League in 2019 and a first English league title in 2020.

Of those surveyed, 54.2 per cent of Reds fans were happy for FSG to remain at the helm, a figure that places them 14th out of the Premier League's 20 clubs.

The most popular owners in the Premier League were King Power, with 94.6 per cent of Foxes fans happy for the Thai ownership to remain at the helm, while Brighton & Hove Albion fans are obviously pleased with the job that Tony Bloom has done at the AMEX Stadium, with 94.4 per cent of fans happy with the direction of the club.

Brentford, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Leeds United all scored well, while at the other end just 3.1 per cent of Newcastle United fans would be happy for Mike Ashley to remain at St James' Park.

Also deeply unpopular was Stan Kroenke at Arsenal (8.9 per cent), the Glazers at Manchester United (9.8 per cent) and Gao Jisheng at Southampton (15.4 per cent).

Tottenham Hotspur owners ENIC also scored badly, with just 25.8 per cent of Spurs fans surveyed happy to see them remain.
