Sky Sports's Leeds United dig, Douglas's touchline shouts, Bielsa's demands and other moments missed

Leeds United hammered Stoke City 5-0 at Elland Road on Thursday afternoon, extending their gap to third place to six points.

Mateusz Klich, Helder Costa, Liam Cooper, Pablo Hernandez and Patrick Bamford scored the goals, but here are some of the moments you may have missed at LS11.

‘Leeds are falling apart again’

Sky Sports’s coverage of the match carried fake crowd noise, but the recording using allegedly included the famous spin on Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear us Apart’.

Several viewers raised the ‘Leeds are falling apart again’ chant on Twitter during the match. There was no crowd noise played constantly inside the stadium, so the buck must lie with Sky.

Bamford’s celebration

Deep into injury time, after Bamford wheeled away from the fifth goal to celebrate he gestured to the West Stand and began rubbing his chin.

According to the club’s head of communications, this was his tribute to director of football Victor Orta who, as with every game thus far, has been the team’s most vocal supporter from the stands.

Dallas reacquainted with his old boss

Michael O’Neill managed Dallas for the vast majority of his international career with Northern Ireland and the pair spent time together at Elland Road on Thursday.

Dallas’s first cap came under Nigel Worthington in May 2011, but seven months later O’Neill got the top job and remained there until April of this year.

Before the game, while Stoke’s players were surveying the pitch, Dallas went across to the touchline in front of the away dugout and spoke to O’Neill for a prolonged period.

Douglas kicking every ball

Barry Douglas was unfortunate to lose his place in the starting line-up after impressing last weekend at Blackburn Rovers, but he was kicking every ball from the touchline at Elland Road.

During his warm-up, especially towards the end of the first half, the Scot could be heard shouting “play” or “pass it” to his team-mates as they went through the game.

No let-up from Bielsa

One of the fixtures of this column has proved to be Marcelo Bielsa’s instructions from the dugout.

Even last night, with the match at 3-0 and 4-0, Bielsa was demanding more and more from his players.

“Quickly, Helder!”

Or whenever a positive move was carried out, there were many in this match, Bielsa would bark: “Again! Again! Again!”

It’s that repetition and positive reinforcement which has got this team to where it is.
