Sky Sports recorded its highest-ever day of viewing on Sunday 29 November, with an average audience of 1.17 million tuning into the broadcasters’ channels.
The numbers peaked at four million viewers at 3.50pm as Edinson Cavani scored a dramatic Manchester United winner against Southampton. The peak also coincided with the restart of the Bahrain Grand Prix after Romain Grosjean’s harrowing 140mph fireball crash.
Sky’s coverage also included Chelsea’s stalemate with Tottenham, the second T20 international between England and South Africa, as well as coverage of the EFL and NFL.
The broadcaster has benefitted from a surge in viewers during the pandemic, with their previous record only broken a few weeks earlier in October.
