It's a new year but there was the same old habits for Tottenham as they fell to defeat against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon. Antonio Conte's side were struck with a few injuries as Bryan Gil was handed a first Premier League start of the season in the absence of Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison.
The Lilywhites struggled to make a quick start at home, with a slow first-half played out between the two sides. For a tenth straight game though, Tottenham went behind as Emi Buendia capitalised on a spill from goalkeeper Hugo Lloris - which happened to be his first appearance since losing the World Cup final.
That deficit was doubled soon after as Yves Bissouma lost Douglas Luiz, who wandered into the box and latched onto a John McGinn pass. The Brazilian's first touch brought the ball down and allowed him to slot the ball home coolly to ensure former Arsenal boss Unai Emery had the last laugh.

The performance led to boos from the home crowd as they were left frustrated by yet another difficult watch and result in the Premier League. Sky Sports pundits Graeme Souness, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Jamie Redknapp were also less than impressed, slamming several Spurs players.
Discussing the opening goal, Hasselbaink said: "You never know if the goalkeeper is going to spill it, but how bad is the defending of Romero and Lenglet? Have a bit of passion."
Redknapp then added on the second goal: "Bissouma, he gets the ball played past him, let's him run, poor defending, Bissouma has to follow him in. If Bissouma goes with him that goal doesn't happen."
Souness added: "He gives up on it, poor defending. I'm not a big fan of Lloris, since last season he's made four mistakes that have led to goals, that's the most in the league, for me he's past his sell-by date."
