Sky Sports pundit outlines the key difference between Mikel Arteta and Unai Emery at Arsenal

Former Tottenham defender Chris Hughton has identified the key difference at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta compared to the reign of his predecessor Unai Emery.

The ex-Gunners captain returned to the Emirates Stadium last year to take his first managerial post, following the sacking of Emery after a disappointing start to the season.

While there is still plenty of work to be done, Arsenal have shown signs of improvement under Arteta and remain unbeaten since the turn of the year in all competitions.

According to Hughton though, the big difference is that Arteta has been consistent with the way he is trying to play and doesn't make too many changes.

Arsenal already planning summer transfers

"He will be massively keen to change his numbers. He has tried to be consistent in the way that he's playing. The previous manager would chop and change a lot more than what Arteta is doing," he told Sky Sports.

"Making the Champions League can change the recruitment process at the end of the season."

Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp added that Arteta will not face any pressure towards the back end of the season, regardless of the Champions League race being reignited.

"It's still a free hit (this season). He is under no illusions that he has a tough task with the players he has. Right now it's just a case of working with what he's got," he explained.

"The Champions League would open things up for Arsenal but there is no pressure on Arsenal.  It wouldn't be a disappointing season for them."
