Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher makes his pre-match prediction for Man United vs Arsenal

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is backing Manchester United to come out of top when they take on Arsenal tonight.

The two foes meet at Old Trafford, with a win for Unai Emery's side taking them back into the top four.

The Gunners come into the game on the back to two straight victories after coming from behind against Aston Villa last weekend, Emery's side set-up a mouth-watering last 16 tie against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, after comfortably dispatching Nottingham Forest last Tuesday.

While Manchester United come into the game after edging past Rochdale on penalties in the League Cup and were beaten 2-0 by West Ham in their last Premier League outing.

But despite their indifferent form, Carragher is backing the Reds to edge past the Gunners tonight.

Premier League preview: Manchester United v Arsenal

The former England international told Sky Sports: "I think Manchester United seem very pessimistic, in terms of their supporters going into the game and I can understand that, it was really poor last week and obviously what happened against Rochdale.

"But it is still Old Trafford and it is still a big thing to go there. I think there was talk of Leicester going there a few weeks ago and that they were going to beat Man United, but it's not easy going to Old Trafford, no matter what team it is. It is still Manchester United, and Arsenal's record is still really poor away from home, even going back to Arsene Wenger. Unai Emery hasn't changed that, even in the big games.

"I think if Manchester United could get Pogba on the pitch and Rashford....and aren't completely decimated. If they have got a half decent side out, I think Manchester United will beat them."

Before being pushed for a score prediction, Carragher replied: "I will go 2-1 Manchester United."
