Sky Sports' pundit David Prutton makes play-off predictions including rivals Derby County

Ex-Nottingham Forest midfielder David Prutton has made his prediction ahead of Saturday's Championship play-off clash between rivals Derby County and Leeds United.

Prutton was asked to give his thought on how the this week's play-off games would play out as the Rams, Leeds, Aston Villa and West Brom battle it out for a place in the Premier League.

Frank Lampard and Marco Bielsa are not exactly on each other's Christmas card list.

A Derby training session earlier this season had to be stopped after the police arrived to investigate a individual lurking around the club's Moor Farm training ground.

Could we see a return to the big screen for Nottingham Forest great Brian Clough?

That individual turned out to be a member of Bielsa's backroom staff sent to spy on Lampard's Friday training session, a day where clubs will often work on team shape with the starting eleven that will start the following day.

The winner between Derby and Leeds will progress to Wembley to compete in football's most lucrative game, but Prutton is expecting a close one and has predicted a 1-1 draw at Pride Park.

"In terms of drama, this game should be right up there even without taking into consideration what happened between these sides earlier in the season," Prutton said.

"More importantly for Derby, they have been given a footballing lesson by Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds twice, and you can only hope for the Rams' sake that Frank Lampard has learned from that.

"Leeds, in form terms, are not playing well.

"They picked up just a point from their final four games and now they have to pick themselves up again quickly."

The early kick-off on Saturday also looks set to be a blockbuster clash.

Separated by just four miles, West Brom and Aston Villa share a fierce rivalry and Villa boss Dean Smith was born and raised in Handsworth, equidistant to the two stadiums.

"I think we can safely say this is going to be a cracker," Prutton said, as he predicted a 2-0 win for the Villans.

"Both of these sides have known they are going to be in the play-offs for a while.

"In fact, for West Brom, it seems like they have been fourth for most of the season and it also seemed fairly certain for a while that they would be facing each other, so they have had plenty of time to prepare.

City's major sports clubs - including Nottingham Forest and Notts County - join forces in an effort to clamp down on social media abuse

"Aston Villa are in the better form, despite dropping points in their tough two final games of the season.

"With both teams there is plenty of firepower in attack, but I just think Smith's side are the more complete team. I reckon they will win and give the Baggies a bit of a mountain to climb in the second leg."
