Sky Sports forced to apologise after Rory McIlroy foul mouthed rant in Dubai Desert Classic

Sky Sports were forced to apologise after Rory McIlroy went on a foul mouthed rant in the Dubai Desert Classic.

The Northern Irish golfer was tied for the lead going down the 17th hole but hit an errant tee shot to leave him in deep trouble.

And with the four time major winner's ball embedded deep in trouble, McIlroy and Harry Diamond asked patrons to move out of the way.

And while doing so, McIlroy said: "This could go f******* anywhere".

And after the world number eight's F-Bomb, it caused broadcaster Sky Sports to offer an apology for his language.

But viewers appeared to be amused by McIlroy's moment of frustration.

One social media user said: "Love a hot mic around Rory when he is in contention f bombs left n right"

While another said: "Another in the swear jar"

While another added: "He owes a few pennies in the jar this week"

And another said: "Rory really taking advantage of the hot mics this week"

McIlroy remarkably managed to dig his ball out before playing a pitch to inches to save a remarkable par as he stayed tied for the lead going down 18.

McIlroy would then hit the water with his second shot and miss his par putt to make a playoff as Victor Hovland went on to win. .
