Sky Sports claim 'goalkeeper' David Turnbull nears Celtic move in latest Scottish football blooper

Sky Sports have dropped another clanger when talking about Scottish football - this time when talking about David Turnbull.

The midfielder enjoyed a brilliant season with Motherwell , scoring 16 times in 34 appearances for the Steelmen last season.

The 19-year-old is closing in on a move to Scottish champions Celtic after a £3m bid was accepted last week by Well.

Despite a stumble over personal terms at the weekend, negotiations between Peter Lawwell and  Turnbull ’s agent are set to conclude with the player becoming Celtic's first summer signing.

But it appears Sky Sports need to brush up on their knowledge of the player.

The broadcasting giants referred to Turnbull as a goalkeeper in their coverage of the story.

Not a bad goalscoring for a No1 is it?

Sky Sports had blown BT Sport out of the water to secure exclusive rights to show live Premiership matches in a deal worth around £160million over five years.

The broadcasting behemoth had been accused of showing a lack of interest in the Scottish game, especially when you consider its mega-bucks, wall-to-wall coverage of football south of the border.
