Sky Sports capture linesman Constantine Hatzidakis appearing to elbow Liverpool's Andy Robertson at half-time

Andy Robertson appeared to be on the end of an elbow from one of the match officials during Liverpool’s game with Arsenal.

Liverpool players fumed at the referee during the half-time break, with Jordan Henderson leading the protests as the two sides went down the tunnel. The Reds trailed 2-1 at the break.

Former Reds defender Jamie Carragher, who was working for Sky Sports at the game, was quick to pick up on one incident, tweeting: "Linesman elbow on Robertson!"

Then a replay from Sky Sports showed Robertson moving over to the linesman, named Constantine Hatzidakis, and he can be seen raising his arm to the face of the Scotland international. Speaking about the incident at the break, Sky Sports' touchline reporter Geoff Shreeves said: “Andy Robertson was absolutely apoplectic, stunned even.

“He said ‘the linesman has just elbowed me in the throat’ – Jordan Henderson was well aware of it and led the remonstrations with referee Paul Tierney and after that they got taken away. Extraordinary scenes.”

Reacting to the incident, Roy Keane said: "I've not seen anything like it really, But Robertson... does he grab the linesman first? I'm not sure. But Robertson's complaining. He should be more worried about his defending.

"I've watched Robertson a number of times and he is a big baby. Just get on with the game and concentrate on your defending. He does grab the linesman first."
