Sky Sports and BT Sport pay-per-view October fixtures confirmed as Man Utd and Chelsea fans to be charged £14.95 first

Manchester United and Chelsea are set to feature in the first weekend of the Premier League's new pay-per-view coverage.

Chelsea will host Southampton at 3pm on Saturday October 17, followed by Manchester United's trip to Newcastle five hours later.

A total of 15 fixtures will be featured in the new plans over the three weeks, which will see fans charged £14.95 to stream each match.

Plans to charge supporters for each extra fixture made available were announced on Friday and attracted significant controversy, with fans once again expected to front up the cost of being able to watch their clubs in action.

In total, half of the matches every week will only be available on pay-per-view coverage, with the remaining five still available on usual subscription services Sky Sports and BT Sport.

That means, should a fan want to continue watching every minute of Premier League football like they have been since the restart of the last campaign back in June, they’ll have to front out a whopping £224.25

In the first three weeks of the new system, fans of Manchester City, West Ham and Everton will not have to pay to watch any coverage of their teams - but the remaining 17 top-flight clubs have at least one game behind the pay-per-view wall.

The situation is particularly bleak for fans of West Brom, Fulham and Aston Villa, with all three of their next matches behind the pay-per-view wall, while Chelsea, Southampton, Sheffield United, Leicester City, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Brighton supporters will all have to fork out twice.

Fixtures in italics are only available in pay-per-view coverage.
