Sky Sports and BT Sport 'banned' from asking clubs about Liverpool’s Premier League title bid

Sky Sports and BT Sport will not be allowed to ask clubs any questions about Liverpool’s attempt to win their first title in 30 years.

According to a report in the Mail, the Premier League have told the two broadcasters that all access to managers and players will be revoked if they ask questions relating to the impact of the shutdown.

The report also claims that any questions relating to the voiding of the season, whether games should be played behind closed doors, furloughing and salary cuts are also off limits.

“It’s clear that the Premier League will revoke access if we do not stick to these guidelines,” an email sent to Sky Sports staff about the guidelines read.

“The interviews have been agreed on the grounds that they are part of the football contract; access is intended to be fun and relaxed.”

Before it adds:“Clubs are extremely nervous about putting anyone up (for interview) at the moment so we must stick to the following processes.

“We should avoid “news” interviews as much as possible.”

There have been a number of conflicting reports about what could happen to the season with it currently at a standstill due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Several have claimed that Liverpool, who are 25 points clear of second-placed Man City and just two wins away from securing the title, could be awarded the Premier League title without mathematically securing it.

While other reports over the last few weeks have indicated that the Premier League is doing all it can to try and finish the campaign, with the title, top four and relegation still to be confirmed.
