Sky News sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao celebrates cancer free scan with 'warning'

Sky News sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao couldn't stop smiling as she updated fans on her stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis revealing that she had received a clear scan.

Taking to Instagram, the 56-year-old former Olympic gymnast posted a uplifting video teasing she had some "breaking news".

Looking happy and healthy, wearing dungarees and a t-shirt Jacqui held up a sign that said: 'No evidence of cancer!'

Speaking to her thousands of followers she said: "I know it's not forever but I'm going to take it for now. A bit of good news at last and I'm so happy!"

Penning a piece alongside the video, Jacqui explained: "I'm not cured - make no mistake - there is no cure for Stage 4 cancer but for now the scan is clear. It's the best I can hope for. For now ……and I'm so so so grateful."

The broadcaster explained just how important the news was revealing that she'd had a terrible time the day before.

Sharing her story she said: "I lost my beloved Mother-in-law Anna yesterday - it was a horrible day. This news, my scan news, came two hours later and helped us all. Anna would have been so happy and relieved.

'I'm sure she is still and is raising a glass in heaven as we speak, I would have loved to have shared this news with her. But I'm sharing it with you all because I've had so much lovely support this year - it's made a world of difference in a terrible year.

"I hope people can get a little bit of hope from my story. I'm not cured - make no mistake - there is no cure for Stage 4 cancer but for now the scan is clear. It's the best I can hope for. For now ……and I'm so so so grateful."

Jacquie revealed in June 2020 that she was facing a second battle with breast cancer after doctors first told her she had the disease in 2013.

Doctors had told her that the cancerous lump this time was incurable, but in August she received the amazing news that it had shrunk to half its size.

However the broadcaster admitted to being overwhelmed by her cancer fight in an Instagram post earlier this year.

The telly star gave fans an honest update on her feelings, writing: "Feeling battered, sore, tired, teary and bloody overwhelmed - some days it’s just all too much."

She finished her post with a crying emoji and the words "Stage 4 cancer".
