Sky News reporter's son crashes interview and asks for biscuits

A Sky News reporter was left mortified after her son crashed her interview in the hunt for biscuits.

Deborah Haynes was on air from her home when her little boy ran into the room.

She apologised for the interruption, but her son was undeterred in his snack quest.

She said: "Sorry that's my son arriving, sorry really embarrassing, sorry."

But her son was focused on the prize and continued to ask "can I have two biscuits please?"

He pleaded with Deborah as she tried to get back on track before being cut off by the presenter who said "that's what happens when you report during lockdown," reports the Daily Record

Many viewers applauded the child's style after he bagged his biscuits on live TV while others didn't like the way the reporter was cut off.

One person said: "He knew what he was doing - gaining leverage in the snack negotiations.

"If mum hadn't been on the telly, he'd have ended up with a piece of fruit. Two biscuits - great result.

Another agreed: "Excellent strategy from the child - ask for biscuits at EXACTLY the moment your mum will agree to anything."

While a third said: "Oooooh they seem a bit dismissive cutting her off like that I won't lie!"

And a fourth said: "Well likely unintentional, that felt a bit unfair alright, she was dealing with the situation fine.

"Reaction felt like she had done something wrong or something truly embarrassing happened."

It's not the first time parents have been caught off guard while reporting live on air.

A BBC News interview with Dr Clare Wenham and Christian Fraser was photobombed by Clare's adorable daughter, Scarlett, on Wednesday.

Little Scarlett stole the show and had viewers tweeting in droves to say how funny she was.

Others commended the Assistant Professor of Global Health Policy Clare for remaining so calm and professional while discussing local lockdowns with Christian, with her daughter popping up in front of the camera.

Clare said: "Sorry!"

Christian replied "That's alright!

"We know how it is working from home, do you need to do anything? Carry on."

Scarlett was trying to figure out the best place to put her beautiful unicorn painting, and Christian asked Clare what her daughter's name was.

He said: "Scarlett, I think it looks better on the lower shelf, and it's a lovely unicorn."

Scarlett then asked her mum who Christian was, before explaining that she was finding the best place to put her painting.

One viewer tweeted: " @BBCNews just had the best interview with Dr @clarewenham Good points well made, but her daughter asking who the News Guy was stole the show...".

Another remarked: "This interview with @BBCNews and Dr @clarewenham is the most adorable thing.

"Her daughter interrupting the the interview in her unicorn dress was too much cute".

A third said: "Massive respect to the scientist on @BBCNews - interrupted by her daughter during the interview live stream - she somehow gave loads of information and avoided shouting at her daughter who interrupted by standing on the desk, and asking the BBC reporter questions so funny"

And a fourth said: "Omggg this interview on BBC News has me screaming, how can this lady's daughter climb onto her desk mid interview. I feel her pain".
