Sky News' Kay Burley volunteers at food bank while suspended for lockdown breach

Kay Burley has shown that she is not going to feel sorry for herself during her suspension from Sky News, by volunteering at a London food bank.

The 60-year-old presenter was forced to take a break from her role with Sky after she broke Covid rules to celebrate her birthday.

She went against the rule of six but partying with nine friends at the Century Club in Soho, and in the fall out that followed, was given a six months suspension by the broadcaster.

Political editor Beth Rigby and north of England correspondent Inzamam Rashid were suspended for three months, after the group continued their night out at Folie, a private restaurant, and then at Kay's West London home.

Kay apologised for her actions and after spending some time in South Africa, she is back and looking to give something back to the community.

She has been seen in a video on social media pitching in with London’s Community Kitchen charity, where she is packing and distributing ready meals to those in need in the locality.

In a video, which was posted on the charity's social media, Kay is seen wearing a hi-vis jacket as she speaks about what they are doing on a day-to-day basis.

She says: “We’ve got ready meals, vegetarian of course, water.

“We have lots of volunteers packing them, we have tons of them already.”

Kay is seen wearing a pink facemask and blue gloves as she packs parcels of food, which are then handed out to families in Brent, North West London, who have been plunged into food poverty during the third national lockdown.
