Sky Mobile launches Samsung laptop plans from £11 a month with no upfront cost

Sky Mobile has added laptops to its range of monthly plans with prices starting from as little as £11 a month.

The provider is now offering a selection of Samsung laptops, including Chromebooks and Galaxy Books, with more set to be added later this year. The devices can be paired with flexible 36 or 48-month payment plans, as well as data plans ranging from 100MB to 75GB a month, with spare data rollover for customers.

Connected laptops have their own SIM plan and data allowance, which means there's no need to tether a phone or connect to WiFi hotspots, helping users to stay connected on the go. Sky Mobile customers will also be able to stream Sky apps like Sky News, Sky Sports, Sky Go and more without using their data.

The new laptops available from Sky Mobile are:

For each of these deals, you will be locked into a 48-month contract but will have the chance to swap your device from 36 months at no extra cost - you can alternatively opt for a 36-month plan for a higher monthly price. There is no upfront cost involved in the 48-month option, and Sky has said that there will be "no mid-contract price rises".

The monthly price listed above is for the laptop alone - choosing a data plan with Sky Mobile for your device will cost between £7 a month for 3GB, up to £26 a month for 75GB. The provider does currently have an offer which allows customers to get a 100MB a month plan for free with the laptops.

All plans include 99% coverage across the UK network, as well as spare data rollover which goes into a customer's Sky Piggybank to be used for data boosts, to share with other SIMS on their plan, or to buy accessories. Sky Mobile is the first provider to offer data rollover for connected laptops.

To compare Sky's deals to another provider with Samsung laptop plans, EE is currently offering the Samsung Galaxy Book2 GO 5G 128GB for £40 a month with 5G data included and a £50 upfront cost, whereas getting the same laptop with Sky alongside a 12GB data plan would cost £31 a month. However, EE's plan only lasts for 24 months compared to Sky's 48 months, so it will work out cheaper if you can afford to pay the higher monthly cost.

To take the same laptop for example, it's also worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy Book2 GO 5G is priced at £649 on the Samsung website. Conversely, the laptop will cost you £912 over the course of 48 months, data plan not included, with Sky Mobile - so while pay monthly plans are a great option if you can't afford the spend in one go, splurging if you are able to rather than spreading the cost will save you hundreds of pounds in the long run.
